History of Christmas Ornaments
An early roman calendar in A.D 336 acknowledges 25th December as the date of Jesus's birth. Since then the practice of celebrating this day started in the form of prepared meals, home decoration, gift-giving and singing. With the passage of time Christmas tree and ornaments also joined the celebration list. The early German Christmas tree used to be decorated with food like apples, pears, onions, candies, nut and fruits.
To widen the celebration idea, glass ornaments started as a decorative piece in Germany in the 1800s. These new glass ornaments then replaced the tradiotional edible decorations. In the year 1960, these glass ornaments became outdated and the trend of aluminum tree decorated with adoring ornaments of similar shape and size came into existence. |
